Comets and Meteorites.
The Eve Universe needs them. Why ?
Meteorites
Dynamics arising from possible Planetary impact if struck by any meteorite. There could be 3 or 5 classes of Meteorites. In other words, small, medium, large meteorites. Should perhaps be harvestable with specific ship types as the Meteors tend to travel fast. Collision with such should incur ship damages. Meteorites should not be limited to only having a chance at intersecting with Planets, but any other static constructs in space (POS's etc).
Comets
Basically the same as Meteorites, but their orbits are predictable. More Ice than mineral.
These would be a decent addition for making immersion that much more "real".
That's my 5c worth.

Probably no more difficult to implement than Wormholes which have ever-changing exits etc.
It's meant to be a Universe.
Anyhow, it's just an idea. One I would like to see. Note emphasis on the word "like".

Amen to that, Jean Lechapel
It's a Universe, afterall. Should not be restricted to just Wormholes, Planets and Asteroid fields. It should not just be about PvP and PvE, that's a very narrow train of thought for a sandbox such as Eve.
Totally spot-on with your comments on the approaches and damages and scanning down. Very doable programmatically and easily supported with the Eve monster servers.

Land on (not easy) and install some thrusters on a meteorite or comet with the intention of diverting it's path, either for the purpose of saving a Moon or Planet from impact, or the opposite, purposefully attempting to alter the course so as to impact a stationary object.
I still think it would positively impact the game dynamics. Could even be additional skillset required to access these bodies.
